SwedCham's sustainability committee invites you to a unique visit to the WWF Mai Po Nature Reserve for a guided tour on the morning of December 16, during the high season of bird migration in Hong Kong.
This is a unique opportunity to visit and see the high diversity of the wetland habitats while also getting to know how WWF works in sustainability and nature preservation.
Known as Hong Kong's "Bird Paradise," Mai Po Nature Reserve has been managed by WWF-Hong Kong since 1983. With its high diversity of wetland habitats including gei wais, mangroves, intertidal mudflats and reedbeds, the reserve is an important habitat and staging site for waterbirds. Some 60,000 birds form a spectacular scene as they make their annual winter migration to roost in Deep Bay.
WWF's guided eco-visits to Mai Po are the best and simplest way to experience the beauty of this truly unique and ecologically diverse wetland location. Guided by a nature interpreter, the activity follows a designated trail that explores the gei wai (traditional shrimp ponds), boardwalk and natural habitats of wildlife, as well as the birdwatching hides.
Thanks to the cooperation between the SwedCham sustainability committee and WWF, the fee for the trip and the guide has been waived. (Everyone pays for their own transportation.)
All Mai Po Nature Reserve visitors should provide their names, and a valid ID card or passport number for Mai Po entry permit application when signing up for the visit.
