The Sustainability Committee of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong invites you to a free screening of Albatross, a film by artist Chris Jordan. Albatross is a beautifully depicted love story about these very special birds on an island in the middle of the Pacific, whose bodies are filled with all kinds of plastic. It is a strong and emotionally catching film made with exceptional artistic visual language, an ugly truth shown through beauty.

Join us for a moment of reflection and inspiration, as well as interesting discussions with a representative from Plastic Free Hong Kong and members of the Sustainability Committee. Light snacks will be served.

Book your tickets as soon as possible, it is on first come first served basis. Tickets can be booked for free. However all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Plastic Free Seas, an environmental charity based in Hong Kong working on reducing the global problem of plastic marine pollution through education and action programs.

Big thanks to our sponsors RPCand WHAT'sIN.

We would also like to thank the team behind Albatross for letting us host this screening.

Welcome!

About the film

Albatross is slow-paced, touching and poetic. Lying somewhere between art project and narrative documentary. His scenes lingers on moments to a point where we lose track of time, into a unique feeling of presence together with the Albatrosses.

Chris Jordan believes the focus should be on forcing people to have a stronger emotional engagement with the problems plastic causes. "The role of the artist is to respect you, help you connect more deeply, and then leave it up to you to decide how to behave" is an approach he got from Picasso and is what he considered making this film. This whole project is a reminder that the planet is in a state of emergency.

Not recommended for children under 12 years old.
